MicroSave released a new video titled 'Cash Transfers: Impact and New Trends'. In this video Sakshi Chadha and Nicola Giordano explain the transformative potential of cash transfers around the world. In particular, they focus on how digitization of cash transfers can bring improvements in process delivery, hence realizing development outcomes more efficiently and effectively.
In contrast to previous years, it is access to finance and financial inclusion (rather than microfinance) that are now widely viewed as paths to social and economic prosperity. As commonly understood, these two concepts encompass more financial and non-financial products and services, new delivery channels as well as more players engaged (including banks, transfer agencies, mobile companies, etc.). It is then critical to understand how microfinance fits these concepts and discuss if there are any threats or new opportunities that can be explored by microfinance.
